St James

Clapton-on-the-Hill,

A small late 12th century church (originally a chapel of ease of Bourton) with unusual 13th century Latin inscriptions. As in the past, when pilgrims faithfully stopped to pray on their way to Evesham Abbey, walkers from all over the world find us open today.

Open during the day as part of the Small Pilgrim Places Network, so feel free to drop in to look around or simply to sit quietly and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

St Peter

Little Rissington

The 12th century church of St Peter is situated away from the village across a field and is accessed by footpath at the front and car park at the back. The church and churchyard are well maintained and the RAF cemetery which contains war graves brings visitors from around the world.

St Laurence

Wyck Rissington

St Laurence’s Church, which celebrated its 750th anniversary in 2019, is located in the heart of the village of Wyck Rissington on the Oxfordshire and Holst Ways. It is a Grade I listed building, and is open to visitors every day during daylight hours.

St John the Baptist

Great Rissington

The church of St John the Baptist is an attractive building with a fine square tower situated at the southern end of the village. Circa 12th century in origin (although extensively rebuilt in 1873) it has a churchyard adjacent to the Manor House.

We welcome a steady stream of visitors, increased by national publicity because 5 sons of a village family were killed in WW1.

The Church

in Upper Rissington

Currently the Church is very small, ecumenical and has no building. We currently meet once a month in the Village Hall for Third Sunday @ 4 which has activities for all ages and includes afternoon tea. We also have a weekly homegroup.

The Church is seeking to serve and to be more visible in this vibrant community. A team of people from all the Rissington Churches goes into the Rissington school on both sites to run Open the Book.

We have a presence at the village Fete and Easter egg hunt, and organise Carols by Candlelight each year in the Village Hall. We also help organise a fortnightly soup and roll lunch.
