Rowena is Aussie-born, but has called England home since 2012, and Bourton on the Water from 2018. She is married to Malcolm, and has a daughter, Elizabeth. Prior to ordination she trained as a teacher and worked mostly in Outdoor Education, but also worked in school chaplaincy, for the Iona Community, and even briefly in the circus! These days, along with the usual clerical pursuits of reading, hill walking, and enjoying a good glass of wine, she enjoys dressmaking and sourdough bread baking (both with varying degrees of success).

On 9th November 2023 Rowena announced that “It is with mixed emotions that I write to share with you that I will be leaving the Benefice in February 2024, to take up the role of Canon Missioner at Lincoln Cathedral. I am excited to be taking up such a significant role, engaging with the ministry, pastoral care and mission of the Cathedral, however I will also be sad to be leaving these communities and all the friends I have made in the past 5 years. It has been a privilege and a joy to journey with you as we have sought to be the love of Christ in our villages.  Over the next few months I will be working closely with my colleagues to ensure a smooth transition into the next chapter. Every blessing, Rowena”

Rowena’s last service in Bourton will be on Sunday 11th February, followed by a Bring and Share lunch. Her installation as Canon Missioner will take place at Choral Evensong in Lincoln Cathedral at 3.45pm on Sunday 10 March 2024.

Rev Nina Summerfield joined us as Associate Priest in the Benefice in December 2020. She previously ministered in Lydney, in the Forest of Dean.

Rev Hannah Allen is our Assistant Curate.

“Having just finished my training at Ripon College Cuddesdon, I am now an Assistant Curate in Bourton-on-the-Water with Clapton and the Rissingtons. I have moved to the village with my husband Craig and daughters Izzy and Beth. Before training, I was employed by a local charitable trust where I worked throughout Gloucestershire alongside individuals and communities who had a particular interest in making the county a place where everyone can flourish, especially those living on the margins of society.”

The Parochial Church Council are the elected people who make the big decisions about our church.  We are many and varied and meet every month in church.  If you are on the electoral roll of the church, you are eligible to stand for PCC.
